Asked at the sock drawer

The same handful of questions arrives every week. Here they are with the answers we would give at the machine.

How do I know which height to pick?

Start from the shoe, not the sock. Low cut stops under the shoe collar and disappears in trainers. Ankle clears the ankle bone. Crew lands on the calf and holds inside work shoes and boots. Knee high runs up the lower leg under tall boots. The picker asks exactly that and hides everything that does not fit the answer.

Why is almost everything a box of pairs?

Because a single knit run gives identical heels, identical toes and cuffs that hold the same way. When a drawer is full of one pattern, nothing has to be matched. We knit 29 boxes across 5 sections of the rack, and most of them hold several pairs.

What does the silicone on a studio sole do?

It is printed straight onto the footbed and gives the sole something to hold with on a smooth studio floor. It belongs on low cut and ankle shapes so the shaft stays out of the way during floor work. Turn those pairs inside out before they go in the drum and the print keeps its shape.

How should a box be washed?

Cold water, sorted by knit weight rather than by colour, and dried flat away from direct heat. Thick pile and thin dress ribs want different treatment and do not belong in the same load. A laundry bag keeps cuffs from stretching against a drum.

Are the same knits sold in more than one colourway?

Often, yes. Our 29 boxes come from 16 distinct knits, so several boxes on the rack share a pattern and differ only in what came off the dye order. Each of those boxes has its own page here.

How do I actually buy a box?

Every box button opens that box at the retail partner that stocks it. Everything after the click is theirs: the amount you pay, the packing, the parcel and the return window. We have no cart of our own and never see a card number.

Does the amount on this page always match theirs?

It matched when the page was built and it can move afterwards, because the partner sets it. Treat the number here as a signpost and the partner page as the truth.
